David Hassan is Partner/Shareholder of the Mena Law Firm, committed to providing the client-centered representation the Firm was founded on. Mr. Hassan was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He is the youngest of four children, son of two hard working parents and a former criminal judge in Nicaragua. After completing his studies in Gainesville, Florida, Mr. Hassan returned home and began his career defending a large insurance carrier.
Mr. Hassan graduated Cum Laude from the University of Florida in 2009. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida's Levin College of Law in 2012, in conjunction with a minor in Military Science and Leadership. While in law school, Mr. Hassan was a member of the Honor Committee, tasked with administering the University's Honor Code. The Honor Committee's role was aimed at serving the public and the profession by producing attorneys dedicated to promoting justice, excellence, and respect for the law. Mr. Hassan also served his community by being a volunteer translator with the Alachua County Human Trafficking Task Force. Additionally, he served as a mentor and peer advisor with the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, designed to support undergraduate students from low-income/first-generation and underrepresented backgrounds in their pursuit of a Ph.D
As an undergraduate student, Mr. Hassan was a member of the University of Florida's rowing team. Prior to starting law school, he enlisted in the Army and joined the Reserve Officers' Training Corps. While attending law school, Mr. Hassan was selected as one of twenty-five students nation-wide to work for the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps. He handled a variety of cases during his assignment, such as permanent disfigurement claims and prosecution of crimes under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, including statutory rape, larceny, and child pornography cases. Mr. Hassan also assisted deploying soldiers in the drafting of wills, power of attorneys, and other familial matters vital to soldiers deploying into a combat environment. After completing his assignment with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), he worked with the Office of the State Attorney for the 8th Judicial Circuit. Mr. Hassan also continued serving with the JAG section of the 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Florida Army National Guard. When Mr. Hassan graduated in 2012, he received his commission as a second lieutenant. He currently serves as a field artillery officer with the 1-124th Infantry Regiment, 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
Prior to joining the Mena Law Firm, Mr. Hassan was an associate with the Law Office of Hoffman & Hoffman, P.A., where he handled a variety of civil litigation cases. Primarily, he handled first and third party liability cases, gaining invaluable experience in the litigation of insurance claims. Most importantly, he learned how the insurance carriers handle claims and ultimately deny or under pay claims.
Mr. Hassan is a member of the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice law both in Florida's State and Federal Courts.
